My name is Randall. I’m part of a musical ensemble called Ghostbeard. This is my blog.
I got my first guitar for my 13th birthday and immediately began writing songs. The next logical step, for me, was to record those songs to share them with friends. Two problems immediately arose: I was not good at writing songs, nor was I good at capturing that recorded sound. For years, recording consisted of playing live while the B-deck of my Dad’s JVC dual tape deck was rolling. Today, after hundreds of songs written and recorded, and the acquisition of better technology, I can say I’m slightly better than I was 11 years ago, though not by much. Unfortunately, what exists is an embarrassing recorded history of my growth as a song writer and audio engineer. Please, share in this embarrassment with me.
I’m also extremely lucky to know so many talented musicians and songwriters who create music that I love to listen to on a daily basis. While my songs will make you cringe, their songs will make you swoon. So, enjoy their music as a welcome respite to anything of mine that I may post.
